It's been all go in 2008 and the momentum only seems to
be gathering.
I have had success with the album, 'flowers and
frolic' particularly the song, 'Your Own
Life' being on the Sounds Like Cafe compilation in Australia, and the Moozikoo.com Best
of Indie compilation in the USA.
'The tale of the blessed two' was
a finalist in the American Lo-Budget Love Songs
Competition. I was the only finalist from
outside of the USA which was pretty cool.
I have just begun to market the album in NZ .
flowers and frolic is
available for purchase at Real Groovy Records and
through amplifier.co.nz.
Anywhere else you go, if you ask for the album
and they don't have it ... get them to get it
in!!!
I am going from strength to strength in my solo
performing and it is very exciting.
I am doing one
or two gigs a week at the moment and loving every
minute of it.
Sista Fest in Healesville March 2008 was a blast and a
great source of networking. The organisers, Jen,
Merryn and Dawn did a fantastic job and it is a
credit to them.
Can't wait to know the dates for
2009 so I can put them on line. 2009 Sista Fest I
understand will have a change of venue and is to
be in Daylesford, Victoria.
I have written 5 new songs in the last month and
recorded 2 of them. 'Swan Song in G Major'
(which is about my pet swan, Princess) and 'What
We Like (is chunky jam)'. To give you a taste,
these will be available through www.amplifier.co.nz
as downloads within the next few weeks.
They are only $1.99 each (like the old 45). It is the
way to get music today so it would be great if you
could support me and enjoy the sound on your
computer/ipod.
They are a very different sound and finally after 20
years of music, I feel as if my music/my self is
becoming aligned ... very exciting times. At last,
the Pene Kingsford Sound.
An EP will be available by June 2008.
I am currently planning an Australian Tour
June 2008. With such a large population who
seem to enjoy live music, this is a very viable
option for me. I have four gigs in Sydney (26-29
June 2008) and then on to Melbourne (June 30 -
July 6 2008). Some venues are yet to be
determined.
For the Christchurch go-getters, I have a 'concert' at
the Wunderbar, Lyttelton May 17 2008 for NZ
Music Month. This will be Pene
Kingsford and Her Hearts Desire
Band. Tickets are only $8 so come along
and tell all your friends.
I am also playing for PRIDE week in Christchurch
on May 16 at the Flamenco Bar, the Civic from 9-11pm.
I play at the Little River Cafe most Sundays 1-3
pm (weather permitting) as I am out in the courtyard.
I
am also blessed to have been given the opportunity
to commence vocal training with Mr
Malcolm McNeill. This is truly a gift
and I am going to make the most of every moment.
I want to make an impact on the world through my music
and through the words I have to say. If any of you have any
ideas, networks, feedback, skills you would like
to share ...
please feel free to contact me and discuss.
peace pene x
